CAGR
In plain language
If your portfolio grew from 100 to 150 in 5 years, the CAGR tells you by what percentage it grew each year on a geometric-average basis. It is the standard measure for comparing returns across different time horizons.
Technical definition
Compound Annual Growth Rate: the annualised geometric growth rate over the selected window; does not imply constant volatility or out-of-sample results.
